Pontoon 21 gets its first Australian Victory

Searing Tackle Pro Staff Member,Scott Brown and his partner took out the Round 8 of the Squidgy Southern Bream Series which was held at Tuross on the weekend. The competitors were greeted with freezing temperatures on the Sunday morning and the water temp wasn’t much warmer.
The pre fish was less than exciting with only one legal fish taken in a shallow lake up the back of Tuross which we nicknamed Lake Legal.
We found that fish at 3pm on Saturday arvo on a Crack Jack 38 shallow in ghost HG gill . This was enough to give us a plan on comp day as the reports were far from positive from other anglers on pre fish day.

Comp Day saw us head straight back to Lake Legal but much to our dislike there was not a breath of wind. Hardbodies in super shallow glassed out water are not a good combination so we plugged away with plastics for the first couple of hours for no result.
My partner finally pulled a fish at 10.30am and with a slight puff from the north east I tied back on the Crack Jack. After a second and third fish went into the well the confidence was rising and the Crack Jack had become the go to lure.
We achieved our limit with an hour to go and managed to score 3 upgrades in that last hour. Back at the weigh in we were greeted with plenty of tough fishing stories and our 2.7 kg limit was the only 5 fish for the competition proving just how tough the breaming was.
Combos used were mainly Flueger and Strudwick rods with Shimano Fireblood and Stellers spooled with Crystal Fireline and FC Rock Leader. It was surprising to see how well these little lures cast,. For a 2.4 gram lure they cast well and swim great!
